Pre-Sales Engineer

VC3, an innovative IT services solution provider headquartered in Columbia, SC is seeking to fill a Pre-Sales Engineer position.

VC3 has adept teams that provide resolutions to technical issues across a wide scope of customers, with an extensive array of technical environments and within our cloud.  Our average customer size is 100 seats, with multiple sites, and an annual IT budget of $500k.  This position will allow you to work alongside some of the most talented engineers in the southeast and afford you the opportunity to grow with a stable managed services provider that has a 27-year history of providing a full range of IT solutions and is continuing to expand its operations.

We are looking for a seasoned, hardworking, competent, and overachieving Sales Engineer with proven experience and a passion for selling technology solutions to senior executives.  You will be responsible for selling into new prospects as well as farming back into existing customers to ensure high renewal and customer satisfaction levels. Measures of success include new customer acquisition rates, renewal rates, up-selling, cross-selling, customer satisfaction and contribution to overall sales team and business success.

Here’s what you will be responsible for:
  • modeling the financial business case associated with each sales opportunity
  • assisting salespeople in their territory with architecting solutions and navigating the sales process
  • successfully matching customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions
  • creating and delivering powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition
  • managing all technical aspects of RFP / RFI / RFQ responses
  • effectively communicating customer needs back to the team for future product enhancements
  • collecting and documenting competitive intelligence
  • working with the product management team to refine and update VC3’s product offerings
Here’s the experience and traits we would like for you to have:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred, preferably in engineering or business
  • 5-10 years of professional IT experience
  • proven work experience as a Sales Engineer a plus
  • proven track record selling complex enterprise solutions
  • ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with senior executives
  • ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • excellent presentation and creativity skills
  • ability to prioritize work
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • labor estimation experience a plus
  • a desire to learn and make a difference!

  • willingness to travel nationally, in busy season up to 15%
