The Virtual Chief Technology Officer will be VC3’s technology expert and play an essential role in setting client’s technology strategies. As a critical strategic leader in the team, with a high degree of accountability for the success of client accounts, they will have a high degree of influence over the success of the people that are part of the accounts, providing technologic strategic direction, development, and growth. This position is responsible for overseeing the client’s overall technology development by identifying, selecting, and implementing technology solutions to meet current and future needs and managing all the information technology resources. Here are the position responsibilities:
  • Define and analyze business requirements and work with clients to evangelize technology solutions selected by VC3 to solve business challenges
  • Create detailed cost justifications and planned ROI on complex solutions
  • Engage with Product Management to support the continual development of solutions that meet evolving market demand
  • Utilize and lead executive alignment and design workshops to assist clients in solving business challenges and opportunities using new technologies
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing standards that are current, relevant, meet support requirements, and contribute to efficient management and service delivery, as well as planning for risk and growth
  • Participate in leading technical training, best practice development, technical skill development, and you are contributing to career pathing structure
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps
  • Educate, enable, and assist with understanding and implementing new and upcoming Technology Investments or Changes, including features, capabilities, and architecture options for implementation
  • Educate and enable project teams, clients, and sales professionals on technology solutions including the Implementation/Development Lifecycle
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client CIOs, including Business and IT executive management
  • Define and select tools, processes, priorities, and resources necessary to manage, analyze, design, and implement new technology directives
  • Utilize high-level analytical and thought leadership ability and creativity to analyze complex/new situations, anticipate potential problems and future trends, and assess opportunities, impacts and risks while developing and implementing plans and producing solutions to client problems.
  • Implement technology and solutions using knowledge of previous lessons learned, best practices, and risk and mitigation strategies
  • Develop IT policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Recognize IT industry changes but focus on how that will affect our business strategies
  • Work with team to develop and enforce IT best practices across VC3 and the Client
  • Ensure IT strategies and processes support company-wide goals
  • Work with technology teams and management to identify, develop and implement systems, processes, and solutions that improve efficiency for both clients and team members
  • Create quality assurance and testing processes to ensure systems are working properly
  • Maximize the ROI on technology investments and leverage trends to develop future business strategies
  • Analyze technology performance metrics
  • Consult all system design and changes in system architecture
  • Design actionable strategies and roadmaps that leadership can utilize to deliver business value
  • Collaborate with industry peers and continuously analyze and review new technologies and practices as informed by industry best practices
  • Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships
  • Educate internal stakeholders and business units on the latest technology trends and implications for the business
  • Demonstrate excellent diplomacy skills with executive management
These are the requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience, with at least five years of experience in a senior management role
  • Experience as a trusted advisor to clients in a consulting and industry capacity with the ability to leverage the experience and establish credibility with genuine thought leadership
  • Experience with transitioning clients to new and upcoming solutions
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Ability to present complex or highly technical issues in simple and easy-to-understand formats
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence decisions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be able to travel throughout Canada and US (less than 50%)
  • Must be able to pass a criminal record check and meet eligibility requirements
